Case study
Recovering unbilled hours at an architecture studio
Unbilled hours found and recovered in the first year after a change to how projects are scoped.
An architecture studio, 28 people
Took: Twelve months

What happened
The studio was busy and short of cash. The review found that one hour in six was never billed, mostly small changes clients asked for after sign-off.
We changed how projects are scoped: a written change log, a threshold above which a change is priced, and a weekly ten-minute check per project.
In the first year the studio billed $420,000 it would have written off, without a single client leaving.
